We have set up an account so that any delays or closings of the food pantry due to inclement weather will be available on Ray’s Weather http://www.raysweather.com/.

The Kilwins-donated tubs around Blowing Rock School school are filled and refilled with snacks for students provided by Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.,which began at Blowing Rock School. Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.’s main mission is now the food pantry open on Mondays at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church on Main Street for families in need of food, but remains “connected” to the needs of children at our school.
On Monday, November 18, Blowing Rock Girl Scout Troop 10396 assembles around just some of the canned goods they collected thanks to the Blowing Rock School students, families and staff. These canned goods will be used by the food pantry run by Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S. at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church. According to Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S. President Linda Laughter, “The amount of food these Girl Scouts collected will feed 25 families. Thank you so much for your efforts and to the BR school families for their donations!” The class collecting the most items (and winning an ice cream party) was Ms. Searcy’s 1st grade class. Congratulations kids! The next two classes with the most items collected where Ms. Trimble’s 4th grade class and Mr. de la Cerda’s 5th grade class. The number of donations more than doubled in the last week! Thank you to all the students and families — the need for these donations has grown during 2013 and is appreciated so much. Update: approximately 600 pounds of food were collected in this drive!
