Cold Storage for the Pantry

September 22, 2021

In anticipation of partnering with Second Harvest, Blowing Rock Cares recognized the need for cold storage.  We put out the call and through grants from Blowing Rock Community Foundation and St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church plus individual donations, we have been able to purchase a new commercial refrigerator and a new freezer.  These appliances will allow us to purchase and store fresh fruit and vegetables as well as frozen food items until we can hand out and deliver to our clients.

We have also expanded our delivery services to our clients.  Any client who is not able to come by the pantry on Wednesdays between 9:00-12:00 can request to have their food delivered.  Based on location and available drivers, we will add the client to our delivery service.  Deliveries are made on Wednesdays and arrangements need to be made for someone to accept the food or for it to be left in a safe location.  Contact Blowing Rock Cares for all our options.
